NYC Subway Goes West

Entrance to 34 Street-Hudson Yards. The newest station on the New York City Subway

There's now a new way to get to Jacob Javits Convention Center without walking or taking a taxi or the bus from Penn Station.

After seven years of construction, the number 7 line now travels to the Hudson Yards, connecting the Javits Center, the High Line and the future Hudson Yard neighborhood that will develop around the massive rail yard near Penn Station.

The trip between Times Square to 34 Street-Hudson Yard takes around two minutes.

The station opened to passenger service on Sunday, Sept 13. The pictures below were taken late Monday.

Lower Mezzanine
A wide platform for those major events at the Javits Center.
Wall tiles are different from other station in system. Only South Ferry station on number 1 line (closed due to hurricane damage) has similar tiles.
Art work in the upper mezzanine.
This station is unique because the elevator connecting the upper and lower mezzanine ...
travels up and down an incline.
