Historic Trinity Church closed for $98 million renovation

Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan
Lower Manhattan's Trinity Church largely closed to visitors on May 8 for a two year long, $98 million renovation.

The more than 300 year-old church, on Broadway and Wall Street, just steps from the World Trade Center and the New York Stock Exchange, will be off limits while workers restore stained glass windows in the church's nave, install gender neutral bathrooms, increase the church's seating capacity and improve its accessibility to the disabled.

Church officials stated the face-lift was long overdue. The last time Trinity was renovated was in 1946.

During the renovation, the Chapel of All Saints and the church's graveyard will remain open. Masses and other large events will be held at near by St. Paul's Chapel on Broadway and Vesey Street.
