Iconic Queens diner closes after 53 years

Another piece of old New York became part of history on Sunday (July 22) as an iconic Queens dinning institution served its last meal.

Located on Queens Blvd and 86 Street in Brairwood, not far from Flushing Meadow-Corona Park, The Flagship Diner had been in business around the clock since it first open in 1965, two year after Idlewild Airport was renamed John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Regulars to the diner are sad to see it go.

The closing of the dinner has led to the unemployment of 38 people and a neighborhood without a place to have a Sunday bruch.
