J&R Music and Computer World, a fixture in Lower Manhattan’s Park Row since it started out as a basement record shop in 1971, is closing its doors for a year-long renovation, according to a blog post on the company’s website on Wednesday.

The store will reopen in 2015, better than ever, according to the owner. The website include a artist rendering of what the new J&R store complex will look like once renovations are completed.
