After 13 years of construction, delays and some controversies, the museum component of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum officially opened to the public on Wednesday.
The museum, which cronicles the event of the nation's darkest day, is situated 70 feet (21.3 meters) below street level.
Tickets to the museum will cost $24, which will go to maintain the operation of the museum and the Memorial Plaza, which is now accessible to everyone. Seniors and student discounts are available.
Family members of the innocents lives lost on September 11, 2001 and first responders are allow free entry into the museum.
