Carnegie Deli Back in Business

Pastrami-on-rye lover can rejoiced. The fame Carnegie Deli was back in business Tuesday, nearly 10 months after issues with a gas line forced the famous eatery to close.

Doors officially opened at 8 a.m., and the hungry Midtown crowd began to fill up the Seventh Avenue spot by midday.

As previously reported, the fame NYC eatery was forced to close back in April 2015 because an illegal gas hook-up that was discover during safety checks conducted by ConEd following a gas explosion at an East Village sushi restaurant in March.

As a result of the illegal tapping, the owner of the deli owed utility company more the $40,000, which was immediately paid.

After major upgrades and re-inspection by both ConEd and the City, the green light was given to reopen for business.

The Deli first opened for business in 1937.
