New South Ferry Station Reopens

The phrase "Passengers must be in the first five cars of this train in order to exit at South Ferry" is no longer heard on platforms and trains along the 7th Avenue Line south of Chambers Street.

More than five years since Super-storm Sandy flooded that new South Ferry Station on the Number 1 Subway Line, the station was re-inaugurated in late June of 2017.

A full 10-car train can now stop at the new terminal station, which is directly located underneath the century old South Ferry loop platform.
