Travel Directions to The Filmore at Irving Plaza

Whether you're coming from near or far, getting to The Filmore at Irving Plaza from Penn Station is fairly easy and the trip take about 10 to 15 minutes.

From Penn Station

If you’re coming from Long Island on the Long Island Railroad, New Jersey on NJ Transit, or Upstate New York or New England on Amtrak, and you arrive at New York Penn Station (not to be confuse with the one in Newark), you will need to exit the train station and walk a block east to Herald Square. That’s where you’re going to get the downtown (southbound) “N”, “R” or “Q” subway line (Yellow Line on the subway map) from 34th Street to Union Square.

From Grand Central

If you coming from Connecticut or the Hudson Valley on Metro-North, you can take the downtown (southbound) Numbers 4, 5 or 6 train (Green Line on the subway map) from Grand Central to Union Square-14th Street.

From the Port Authority Bus Terminal

If you’re travel by commuter bus from New Jersey or parts of the Hudson Valley, you can take the downtown (southbound) “N”, “R”, or “Q” train (
Yellow Line) from Times Square to Union Square.

In addition, you can take the 42nd Street Shuttle or the Number 7 subway line (Black or Purple Lines) to eastbound to Grand Central, where a transfer can be made to the downtown (southbound) Number 4, 5 or 6 train (
Green Line), which will take you the rest of the way to Union Square.

Once at Union Square, exit the subway and follow the walking directions to the venue on the map at the link below.

The fare on the subway is $2.25 one way, per person ($4.50 round trip per person) with a pay per ride MetroCard (2.50 with a SingleRide ticket). If you're staying in town for a week and your trip involves The Filmore, consider purchasing a weekly unlimited ride MetroCard for $29, which will come in very handy when using the subway multiple times.

You can purchase your pay-per ride, SingleRide or unlimited ride MetroCard from either the MetroCard Vending Machine or from the token booth at either Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal or Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station.

If you’re traveling on either Metro-North or the LIRR, you can purchase your MetroCard along with your rail ticket at the train station where you start your journey.

If you’re taking a camera to The Fillmore, its should be noted that point and shoot digital cameras are allowed when approved by the artist performing at the venue. Any cameras with removable lenses and/or professional cameras (including digital SLR cameras) must be checked at the coat check counter unless you are issued a photo pass.
