If you're planning your upcoming trip to New York and you've stumbled upon this post, here are some insights on the weather throughout the year from a Native's perspective.

Spring

Although it is a brief and sometimes an unpredictable season, Spring is the best time of the year for visitors and locals to step outdoors and enjoy the mild weather, which range between 55° and 75° F (12° and 24° C), with a chance of rain in the forecast.

It is recommended that a light jacket or sweaters, and an umbrella should be included in your packing list when traveling to the Big Apple.

Summer

The weather in the City during the July and August can be hot, hazy and humid (the famous three H's) with temperatures hovering above 90° F (32° C).

During this time of the year, New Yorkers head for the beach, leaving the sweltering city behind.

If you're traveling to New York City, during the summer, I highly recommend packing plenty of light clothing and sun protection.

In addition, make sure you have plenty of water to drink when you're going about the City taking in the landmarks and attractions, because you don't want to spend your vacation in the emergency room.

Autumn (Fall)

With temperatures ranging between 50° and 70° F (10° and 22° C), visiting New York in the fall is great for anyone who love the fall foliage, especially the brilliant colors taking place in the City's many parks.

Additionally, if you're an art lover, fall herald the opening of the renowned cultural season.

Like in the spring, it is recommended that a light jacket and several sweaters should be included in your packing list if you're traveling to the Big Apple.

Winter

Although, temperature hovers around 32° F (0° C) or lower, winter in New York can be bitter cold with snow in the forecast.

Overall, the holiday season in the Big Apple is festive with seasonal performances and decorations throughout the City.

If you're looking for a bargain and/or want to avoid the holiday crowds, January and February is consider the low season in the Big Apple with many hotels offering discounts on rooms during this time of the year.

As a general rule, when you're planning your trip to New York, whether for a few days or a week, it is highly recommended that you check with weather.com or accuweather.com for the latest weather condition in the Big Apple.
