Whether you're going to a concerts, a Broadway show or a sporting event in New York City, if you are offered tickets from "ticket scalper" at a reduced rate than that of the venue's ticket widow or authorized ticket outlets, don't buy them because they could be counterfeits.
A "ticket scalper" is an unauthorized ticket speculator who buys tickets to a performance or sports event and resells them at inflated prices.
Under New York State law, the resell of tickets within 500 feet (150 meters) of a venue is considered illegal. This means the "scalper" could risk being arrested, if caught, and you could loose your hard owned money.
Therefore, if you want to have a good time at a concerts, Broadway show or sporting event, always purchase your tickets from the venue's ticket window, or from authorized ticket retailers, such as Ticketmaster.
