Letterman to retire in '15

Late night funnyman David Letterman is calling it quits as host of The Late Show. He made the announcement during the taping of his program on Thursday.

Letterman, whose been with the show since jumping from NBC to CBS in 1993, will end his hosting duties at the Ed Sullivan Theater in 2015.

Letterman becomes the latest in a list of high-profile television personalities to announced their departure in the last several years. Among them Regis Philbin, Jay Leno and Barbara Walters, whose leaving The View this summer.

At the moment, its too early to tell who will replace Letterman at The Late Show. So let the auditions begin.

Just two days after David Letterman's announcement that he will leave The Late Show in 2015, it has been reported that Stephen Colbert will take over the hosting duties at the late night talk-fest upon Letterman's retirement.

Colbert, who's currently the host of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, signed a five year contract with CBS, the network reported Thursday.
